The Reserving team is instrumental in supporting this growth and longer-term ambitions, with significant investment and wider Group collaboration in helping drive towards a best-in-class reserving and capital support set up.

The way EII is structured provides ample opportunity to make a tangible impact on the day-to-day and future direction of the department, and personally play a critical role in the growing actuarial function and its capabilities across modelling, MI and business partnering of this cross-platform unit.

Role Purpose:

A key member of the actuarial function, you will be required to help support and drive forward BAU and project initiatives, working collaboratively with other members of the actuarial and finance teams.

In addition to playing a key role in enhancing the team's capabilities, the candidate will have responsibility for owning key aspects of the quarterly reserving process and working with the Actuarial Management team on analysis to generate and support reserving results.

The role is broad with exposure to a wide network of business stakeholders and other actuarial functions, project development and quarter/off-quarter activities. The successful candidate will work with autonomy in a supportive and encouraging environment. This will be suitable to someone looking for a steep learning curve and being empowered to take on ownership and make an impact with the business.

Reports to: Reserving Manager

Key responsibilities:
Quarterly reviews of reserves in respect of business written across international platforms.
Support setting of key actuarial assumptions and methods for both GAAP and SII purposes.
Support reporting of results to Group and regulators, and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
Contribute to reserving and capital discussions with underwriting, pricing, claims, finance and reinsurance to improve underwriting results. Timely delivery and communication of results.
Contribute to actuarial analysis which supports the business planning process and communicate the results to internal and external stakeholders.
Support and contribute to the quarterly capital assessments and quantitative inputs to the ORSA processes.
Work with pricing actuary's, claims and underwriters for sharing information, influencing and to get buy-in on reserving assumptions used.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Collaborate and support the actuarial function in continually enhancing and developing the GAAP reserving and SII processes across the International platforms.
Develop tools and outputs to leverage reserving data in order improve underwriting performance and deliver insights and valuable MI to key stakeholders and senior management.


Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Related area.
Proven progress and commitment to being a qualified actuary with the IFoA or equivalent, to which support will be provided.
Relevant proven industry experience.
Excellent IT skills, MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, Power BI and ResQ.
Strong technical and model building experience.
Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate complex items in simple terms.
A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work with a strong appetite to learn and develop..
