Position: Catastrophe Analyst
Job ID: 40401
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Apply knowledge of construction practices, mapping software, and insurance market conditions to create files for import into catastrophe models
- Use catastrophe model software and in-house tools to generate output used to price property insurance
- Analyze model input/output using knowledge of natural catastrophes
- Improve workflow by building in-house tools
- Contribute to research and development projects
- Participation in in-house and external training
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in geophysical science, engineering, or quantitative field is required
- Independent worker with strong work ethic who is capable of working extended hours under pressure and working/managing multiple projects
- Proficiency in Excel is required
- GIS, VBA, or other programming skills preferable
- Knowledge of the insurance/reinsurance market preferable
- Confident and decisive individual with excellent proven analytical and interpersonal skills along with the ability to build effective relationships and act as a team player in a diverse team
- Previous experience using catastrophe model software preferable
