Responsibilities:
-Provide leadership to the team
-Provide regular performance feedback and ensure career development plans in place for all direct reports.Accountable for employee engagement and ensure sufficient depth of talent for succession and coverage
-Work closely with other managers to support engagement and development within the greater team
-Accountable for adequacy of policy liability provisions for Property and Casualty lines
-Review responsibility on P&C lines of business in quarterly reserving valuations
-Collaborate with team to identify areas of concerns and claims development insights
-Collaborate with team on common assumptions including loss trends, rate tracking, and mix of business
-Represent the team with effective stakeholder management and communication of claims insights to the business
-Accountable for adequacy of policy liability provisions for latent claims
-Ownership of the data workstream deliverables and projects
-Coordinate deliverables with analysts in workstream, providing support on training and organization
-Ensure timely and accurate production of analysis data, including support for Reserving and external customers on request and queries
-Drive continued improvements and new developments to the data systems and pipelines
-Support the development and implementation of the infrastructure vision
-Support the annual preparation of the Actuary’s Report for all legal entities
-Liaise with external peer reviewers and auditors for year-end related inquires
-Support Finance for successful delivery of monthly financial packages and quarterly regulatory reporting
-Work with other Reserving managers to ensure compliance with Professional, Regulatory, External Audit, Internal Audit, Financial Reporting Control Framework and Risk Management requirements of the department
Qualifications:
-Near Fellow (FCAS) or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS)
-Five years actuarial experience
-Strong knowledge of CIA Standards of Practice, Canadian IFRS and regulatory requirements
-Good knowledge of actuarial reserving, process control techniques and insurance company operations and products
-Ability to present and explain complex technical issues to Actuaries and non-Actuaries
-Strong analytical skills
-Fundamentals of data management
-Ability to lead and develop employees through hiring, technical growth and performance management
