Responsibilities:
- Proactively lead the P&C Actuarial practice by setting strategy, drive the development of new business in the market, and provide technical advice across disciplines.
- Working with lead Partner on strategy, vision and then being expected to implement and grow it.
- Manage the review of financial and accounting reports, funding valuation reports and other documents.
- Manage audit support assistance to the assurance engagement teams on complex accounting events.
- Building strong networks within the firm to spot and capitalize on opportunities to get involved in projects that others are leading across a number of different business units and sectors.
- Identifying and discussing key issues with our clients to identify potential opportunities.
- Manage and deliver large projects by developing the project team, assessing engagement risks throughout, driving conclusions, and reviewing / challenging the output produced by the team.
- Responsibility for management of engagement financials.
- Helping to grow and develop our team through hands on training and coaching.
Qualifications:
- An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work.
- 20+ years of experience in Corporate Actuarial services.
- FCIA, Qualified actuary of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
- Extensive experience involving managing Actuarial functions or services including staff and financials.
- Experience with product development and pricing including new and emerging modeling and techniques.
- Stochastic modelling.
- Experience working in consulting and/or professional services environment.
- Experience managing and motivating staff.
- Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent priorities.
- Detail oriented and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Entrepreneurial thinking.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is considered an asset.
