- Participate in strategy development and portfolio management as assigned and implement the actuarial components of the strategy to facilitate the wider business strategy. 
- Lead actuarial services related to reserving and financial reporting, new business reporting and actuarial planning activity; develop actuarial reporting standards and controls to be applied consistently at designated Business Unit level to ensure robust actuarial data is provided for business decision-making purposes. 
- Responsible for providing actuarial input and recommendations to Business Unit for business decision making and advising Business Unit management of the actuarial and business implications of certain strategies locally/regionally, the risks involved and potential risk management/mitigation options available. 
- Responsible for premium setting, new product development and reporting, having regard to balancing competing interests of shareholders, distributors and customers. 
- Design and develop alternative and/or additional methods for pricing. 
- Support senior management in developing pricing strategy and portfolio management initiatives.
- Develop projections and forecasts for planning. 
- Monitor actual performance against plan. 
- Review and interpret rate and rule changes. 
- Where appropriate, provide actuarial support for various filings, regulatory or management requirements. 
- Review analysis of experience trends and expenses, initiating action where necessary; recommend further analyses and investigations. 
- Oversee/Supervise more junior team members. 
- Provide thought leadership on portfolios with a high to very high level of complexity / diversity and/or regulatory scrutiny; regulatory scrutiny may cover multiple regulatory frameworks. 
- Lead a team of 5-12 with 3+ direct and/or matrix reports. May be responsible for department or team with 1 or more reporting levels and associated budget. 
- Deputize for the local/regional chief life actuary, chief pricing actuary or other superior as needed. 
- Manage, support or perform strategic or global projects, or global oversight functions.  
- Adhere to professional standards of practice as defined by the relevant local actuarial society, regulatory body, or other governing body. 
- Support the cascade of Group strategy to department or function personnel. 
- Actively provide professional actuarial support and advice to the regional group, chief life or chief pricing actuary and to senior management and group functions including insights into underlying performance and implications for the business. 
- Provide leadership advocacy for data quality, granularity, and availability, to ensure robust inputs to actuarial processes.  
- Lead cross functional initiatives to improve the flow and quality of relevant data and ensure required granularity is available for analyses. 
- Oversee, participate in and drive improvements to internal processes and cross-functional collaboration in order to deliver first class insight and provide the company with a competitive advantage. 
- Provide an external perspective to facilitate improvements to processes and standards where warranted to improve statutory, regulatory and internal compliance. 
- Lead the most complex analyses on special projects.
- Lead actuarial services in the delivery of the most complex actuarial activities related to risk based capital model development, calibration and parameterization activities. 
- Make informed actuarial and business recommendations based on professional judgment and experience; effectively challenge and/or escalate issues, that may be of a highly sensitive nature, within business decisions or processes that are not able to be supported from an actuarial or business standpoint. 
- Mentor and develop department of actuarial professionals, providing input to or leading global training and people development initiatives; effectively manage and implement talent management and succession planning processes; attract top internal and external talent.  
- Manage direct reports by providing direction and empowering them to deliver on results; act as a role model to actuarial professionals. 
- Liaise with senior auditors to define scope and facilitate review of assigned actuarial processes.
