Responsibilities:

- Maintain and evolve the longevity risk dashboard to keep up-to-date on global longevity improvement research.
- Evaluate research to determine its impact on the company’s view of future Canadian longevity in collaboration with other geographies and teams.
- Educate and influence various stakeholders on relevant developments.
- Recommend updates to the company’s Canadian longevity improvement assumption as required.
- Create and manage a framework to keep up-to-date on global longevity assumption setting best practice.
- Evaluate evolving best practice in collaboration with other company geographies and reinsurance partners.
- Educate and influence various stakeholders on relevant developments.
- Recommend changes to the company’s Canadian longevity improvement assumption methodology as required.
- Support the Longevity Leadership Group, which is made up of stakeholders and assist in preparing meeting agendas that support the company’s strategic longevity priorities. 
- Spearhead working groups to perform the research or projects required to advance the Longevity Leadership Group’s mandate.
- Be seen as the company subject matter expert and “go to” central resource for all things related to longevity.
- Lead Defined Benefit Solutions’ initiative to refine our longevity underwriting methodology using predictive analytics to create a competitive advantage for our solutions in the market.

Qualifications:

- Very strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills that allow for deep actuarial analysis.
- Prior experience in longevity assumption setting and predictive modeling is critical.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas to non-actuaries.
- Strong influencing skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent people skills to manage relationships with Defined Benefit Solutions stakeholders and coordinate large cross-functional teams.
- Previous knowledge of reinsurance structures, securitization, group annuities and/or registered pension plans is an asset.
- Previous knowledge of pricing, valuation, longevity assumption setting, ALM, group annuities and/or registered pension plans is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, challenge the status quo and promote new solutions.
- Highly motivated, proactive, conceptual thinker who is able to take a leadership role in a wide variety of assignments.
- FCIA designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of insurance and/or pension experience in an actuarial role.
- Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics or statistics.
