Responsibilities:

- Produce work of a high standard which is accurate and timely.
- Assist in data compilation and analysis.
- Assist in performing actuarial analyses as directed, which may involve any of the following:
- Analysis / valuation of policy liabilities in relation to the department business and/or industry results.
- Analysis of automobile insurance trends.
- Analysis of automobile insurance rates.
- Filing of proposed automobile rate changes.
- Calculation of monthly actuarial provisions for financial reporting purposes.
- Projection of monthly results for financial reporting purposes.
- Document all work and spreadsheets / programs etc. clearly and fully.
- Provide support for any associated reporting internally and externally.
- Assist in supporting needs of, and work collaboratively with, external actuarial resources as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of meetings related to various committees as needed.
- Provide actuarial support to other departments.
- Continue to develop technical skills, pass actuarial exams, and meet all professional standards and requirements.

Qualifications:

- University or college degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science.
- Successfully completed at least three actuarial exams.
- 1 to 3 years of practical work experience in P&C actuarial services, preferably in relation to automobile insurance.
- Ability to communicate ideas and decisions clearly and effectively, with particular emphasis on strong written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Experience in database management.
- Ability to be flexible, learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology and techniques.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Familiarity and working knowledge of VBA or SQL, and relational database.
- familiarity with programming language R and/or @risk.
- Familiarity with ICRFS valuation software.
- Valuation / reserving / trending / ratemaking / rate filing experience in Canadian property casualty.
- Canadian automobile insurance experience.
- Exposure to year-end actuarial and financial reporting.
