Responsibilities:

- Advise and support the department as well as the various pricing areas in matters related to regulatory capital requirements and financing.
- Lead the analysis of impacts related to the developments of the regulatory capital framework and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate the impacts on the Company.
- Ensure the implementation of changes in regulatory capital requirements on a timely basis.
- Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of IFRS 17, particularly in the context of regulatory capital and financing needs.
- Collaborate to various internal initiatives aiming at the optimization of capital use for the company and/or clients.
- Ensure the periodic monitoring of the capital and financing needs and their timely reporting.
- Coordinate financing needs with the company Structured Finance.
- Assist in the preparation of the regulatory reports and Board of Directors material.
- Be involved in pertinent industry and professional committee.
- Provide oversight and direction to actuarial staff in his/her area. Foster a positive and engaged work environment. Mentor associates and give guidance on associate development.


Qualifications:

- FCIA or equivalent designation.
- A minimum of 10 years of Canadian insurance and/or reinsurance industry experience.
- Advanced knowledge of the Canadian regulatory environment, particularly the regulatory capital requirements and the CALM reserving method.
- Advanced knowledge of the Canadian insurance products and reinsurance concepts.
- Excellent understanding of the Company’s GAAP, statutory and tax reporting bases.
- Very good management skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to build professional relationship with various departments and stakeholders across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members.
- Bilingualism.
- Advanced ability to adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions.
- Advanced technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Advanced skill with MS Office suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
- Advanced skill with AXIS software.
