Responsibilities:

-Set and align the overall strategic vision for the life insurance product and product positioning in the market place.
-Establishes Life Product Management organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
-Ensure Life Product Management operational plans are aligned with division and the overall business plans and specific strategic and tactical initiatives.
-Develops the strategy and successful implementation bringing product innovation to market.
-Lead the development of effective product strategies that support the overall business strategy and leverage the strengths and market positions of the life products.
-Provides an objective leadership focus to the need to balance the ongoing investment in the life products with the need to deliver reasonable and timely returns on that investment.
-Supports business strategies and initiatives by representing the company at various industry associations and functions serving as a “thought leader” in the life product space.
-Builds and maintains key relationships with internal (i.e. peers, other departments, executive management) an external business partners.
-Builds organizational capability within Life Product Management functions.
-Ensures that top talent is hired and retained.
-Directs pricing of products aligned to desired profitability and risk metrics.
-Established and executes against appropriate financial and productivity measures and metrics
-Ensures the appropriate controls (financial, operational effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and regulatory controls) are implemented and maintained within Life Product Management’s operations.
-Ensures and leads the incorporation of appropriate valuation standards and other actuarial assumptions and reinsurance strategies in the pricing and delivery of the life products.
-Advises senior leadership on regulatory and financial issues and/or concerns as they affect product line and/or positioning of product.  Recommends mitigation strategies.
-Interface with state regulators, reinsurers, internal and external auditors on all relevant product related matters.
-Ensures the development and maintenance of an effective organization for area(s) of responsibility, including: efficient work flow patterns; established performance standards; effective delineation of duties and responsibilities; suitable staffing levels; appropriate supervision; and systems for timely communication of pertinent information.
-Ensures cost effective operations supported by continuous operational improvements.
-Maintains current knowledge of applicable Federal/State laws, regulations and trends.
-Ensures and leads the incorporation of appropriate valuation standards and other actuarial assumptions and reinsurance strategies in the pricing and delivery of the life products.
-Lead the full cycle of product management and development activity including:
-develops product business plans;
-conceptualizes new features and versions, ensuring fit with overall divisional mission a strategy;
-analyzes existing customer “usage” and testing new features and benefit provisions with distribution, institutional customers and employees/end users;
-assists in bringing new products through the launch and implementation phase as well as continually strive to shorten the time to market;
-understands the competitive environment and market trends for analogous products;
-define both the operational and financial impact that changes in the product mix will have on the profitability of the Division and the enterprise.

Qualifications:

-Undergraduate degree with educational concentration Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing, Economics or related degree.
-FSA preferred.
-MBA or Advanced degree preferred.
-15+ years of progressively more responsible experience in life product development, including 5+ years of senior management and strategy experience; or 19+ years of progressively more responsible experience in life product development, including 5+ years of senior management and strategy experience.
-Strong Knowledge asset/liability modeling and financial projections and actuarial principals
-Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts (Statutory, GAAP). GAPP/Statutory financial reporting.
-In depth knowledge of life insurance markets and products.
-Demonstrated experience in market and segment identification.
-Demonstrated experience in developing and executing strategic initiatives and plans which have benefited a company’s top and bottom lines.
-Ability to create and effectively manage administrative budgets, and develop business performance measures to evaluate productivity. 
-Excellent project management skills.  Will be able to demonstrate effective and timely project management across large multi-disciplined and cross functional teams.
-Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills with internal and external clients (i.e. executive management, peers, distributors, agents, reinsurers, and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches to driving client-focused solutions which also benefited the company’s top and bottom lines.
-Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
-Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with collaborative management style.
