Responsibilities:

-Provide thought leadership on various cross-functional teams supporting the business including actuarial, finance, and risk, and be an active member of the management team.
-Serve as the Approved Actuary and provide an opinion on the Bermuda technical provisions on an annual basis to the BMA.
-Monitor the solvency position under the Economic Balance Sheet.
-Oversee the pricing of reinsurance transactions, and ensuring appropriate standards and return thresholds.
-Oversee the financial close on an IFRS and BDA statutory basis, as well as the financial planning for the reinsurance segment.
-Produce an Embedded Value for the company and report to external investors.
-Design and implement an appropriate actuarial financial control environment.
-Represent the business on pricing, IFRS and related financial operations in interactions with parent and affiliated companies’ financial and investment departments, Bermuda and foreign regulators, actuarial department, in-house and outside counsel, auditors, systems support departments, etc.
-Ensure the regular review of all the actuarial assumptions and recommend changes as appropriate.
-Provide support beyond core financial actuarial responsibilities including capital raise initiatives, rating agency diligence, etc.
-Work closely with the company and its other subsidiaries’ reinsurance partners on retroceded business.
-Serve as a senior manager in the Bermuda office, providing leadership and guidance and a “source of strength” to the broader office staff.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field.
-Designation within professional actuarial organizations such as Society of Actuaries, Institute of Actuaries or the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
-10 to 15+ years’ experience working in the life insurance industry in US GAAP or IFRS financial reporting and modeling and pricing areas of practice.
-Experience working with the Bermuda long term insurer reporting and regulations and/or Solvency II reporting and regulations strongly preferable.
-Current knowledge of participating German life insurance products and European retirement products.
-Ability to set and manage priorities in a changing work environment is essential.
-Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
