-Business development:
-Maintain high visibility in the market by meeting with insurers, participating at industry meetings, publishing articles, and joining pertinent industry committees.
-Develop strong relationships with internal customers in key functional areas which include pricing, treaty, legal, underwriting, biometrics, and administration to promote client focus and preferred provider.
-Assist in the planning and execution of the annual marketing strategy for key clients under the direction of the Business Development lead.
-Develop potential leads into tangible business by gathering appropriate internal resources for each opportunity.
-Client relationship management:
-Address clients’ needs in a timely and insightful manner so the company is seen as a business partner and not just a provider of services.
-Liaise across key internal departments to meet client requests and also provide innovative client solutions when necessary.
-Develop industry knowledge and actuarial expertise on reinsurance topics impacting clients.
-Provide superior value by giving meaningful guidance and insight during client interactions.
-Treaty pricing and negotiation:
-Oversee the reinsurance deals by owning the quotes and working with both the client and pricing actuary to calculate an optimal price that also meets the company’s profit metrics.
-Work with clients and the company’s treaty department to negotiate treaty terms and conditions which provide the necessary protection for the company.  Be the company’s primary negotiator on actuarial aspects of each deal.
-Work with treaty to execute contract amendments.
-Financial Results:
-Negotiate deals effectively with the goal of maximizing VNB while managing to secondary profit metrics and maintaining strong, trusting relationships with clients.
-Understand the dynamics which impact the profitability of the business and ensure that problems are discovered early.
-Highlight potential problems with the financial results of accounts to the Business Development lead and work together to determine the best course of action.


-Bachelor’s Degree.
-10+ years’ experience in individual life insurance and/or reinsurance required.
-Experience in direct and/or reinsurance pricing preferred.
-Experience in public speaking/presenting effectively to groups preferred
-ASA actuarial designation required and FSA preferred.
