Responsibilities:

-Carry out complex ratemaking analysis and product reviews for commercial property and automobile lines of business; propose appropriate rate changes and/or product changes to management and provide implementation support when required.
-Prepare rate filings and communicate with regulators in various jurisdictions to obtain approval for the proposed rate changes when required.
-Provide actuarial support to other stakeholders on new product development and various system design implementation projects.
-Perform monitoring activities to assess the quality of our insurance portfolio, and track the rates, market share and insurance results of our competitors.
-Conduct in-depth analysis to address insurance issues; propose appropriate solutions and provide implementation support when required. 
-Provide actuarial support for corporate actuarial projects such as reserve and corporate budgeting; conduct financial planning, reinsurance pricing and reinsurance allocation analysis.
-Maintain, develop, and validate predictive statistical models; interpret the model results to internal clients; provide insight on how the business processes might be impacted by the results.
-Mentor and coach less experienced actuaries.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant fields.
-Minimum of 5 years of P&C industry experience; experience with Commercial Lines pricing and Commercial Auto filings an asset.
-Minimum of 5 CAS exams, ACAS or FCAS preferred.
-High level of proficiency in SAS programming and Excel. GLM experience an asset.
-Working knowledge of general insurance products and business processes.
-Working knowledge of legal statutes regulating the automobile industry. 
-Result driven and customer focused.
-Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to work accurately and meet deadlines despite interruptions.
-Ability to interact effectively with management, underwriters, and other business partners.
-Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required.
-Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
-Ability to exercise flexibility and good judgment.
